Ambal Cafe,
A Legacy of Flavor and Community
In the bustling markets of Sri Lanka during the 1950s, my grandfather founded Ambal Cafe with a vision to serve delicious Indian food that was accessible to everyone. With dosas priced at just one rupee—a time when the actual cost of a dosa was four rupees—Ambal Cafe became a beloved spot where people from all walks of life could come together and enjoy authentic flavors.
My grandfather always told me that "food tastes better when it is served with love and respect." This philosophy became the cornerstone of Ambal Cafe, infusing every dish with warmth and a deep respect for our customers.
Now, as we step into a new chapter with our food truck in Bangalore, we're embracing the legacy of Ambal Cafe while infusing it with the vibrant international flavors we experienced in Sri Lanka. We bring authentic Sri Lankan spices straight from the farm to the dishes we serve here, ensuring every bite carries the true essence of our heritage.

Break FastStart your day the Idu Adu way – with a soul-satisfying combo of soft, steamed idlis and our signature Sri Lankan-style chicken curry. The light, fluffy idlis soak up the rich, spiced coconut gravy, bringing together the comfort of South Indian mornings and the bold flavors of island-style cooking. It’s not just breakfast – it’s a beautiful fusion of tradition, taste, and nostalgia served on a plate
